HOSUR: TVS Motor Company on Wednesday announced the launch of a new generation of its Apache RTR 200 4V – the ‘Race Edition 2.0.’ Priced at Rs 95,185 (for base Carburetor variant), the new version gets an advanced ‘Anti-Reverse Torque (A-RT) Slipper Clutch’ technology for an improved riding experience.
A race-derived technology, the ‘A-RT Slipper Clutch’ provides a back-balance torque limiter effect to avoids wheel-hopping in highspeed downshifts. The function improves vehicle stability while gear shifting, allowing aggressive downshifts with confidence while ensuring rider’s safety.
It also promises sharp and precise gear shifts with 22 per cent reduction in clutch force for quicker upshifts, enabling the rider to achieve better lap times.
Alongside the slipper clutch, the Apache RTR 200 4V Race Edition 2.0 also receives sportier graphics for a more appealing appearance and a fly-screen for enhanced aerodynamics.
“The new TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Race Edition 2.0, takes the racing experience up by a significant notch as it is enabled with the ‘A-RT Slipper Clutch’ – a first in this segment. The entire TVS Apache RTR 200 4V range will don the dynamic racing-inspired decals along with a stylish and exclusively designed fly screen which is sure to accentuate the racing stance of the motorcycle thus making it a racing machine like no other,” Arun Siddharth, Vice President (Marketing) – Premium Two Wheelers, International Business and TVS Racing, said while launching the new Apache RTR 200 4V series.
The motorcycle continues to be powered by a 200cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine — with an oil-cooler — which comes mated to a five-speed gearbox. The carbureted version of the motor develops 20.5PS while the fuel injected one makes 21.0PS of power. The peak torque output of the engine is 18.1Nm that comes at 7,000rpm.
The 149kg (kerb weight) weighing motorcycle takes just 3.9 seconds to achieve a speed of 60kmph from the standstill and claims a top speed of 129kmph.
The Apache RTR 200 4V is built on a race-derived double cradle frame which gets a KYB suspension setup, comprising of 37mm front forks and a gas-charged rear shock absorber. Sporty alloy wheels of the bike come shod with 90/90 front and 130/70 rear tubeless tyre. Braking duties are handled by 270mm front and 240mm rear petal disc brake while a dual-channel anti-lock braking system (ABS) comes as an optional extra.
The EFI (Electronic Fuel Injection) variant of the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V has been priced at Rs 107,885 and the ABS variant comes with a price tag of Rs 108,985 (both ex-showroom, Delhi). Both the higher variants are available at select dealerships only.
